
Armored CarArmored car (sometimes spelled as 'armoured car') is an armor-plated truck with strong doors and locks used to transport money or valuables, protect military personnels and or VIPs. There are three types of armored vehicles: the first one is armored cargo vehicle, second is the military type armored cars and the third is the civilian armored cars. Armored cargo vehicles are used to transport valuables such as large quantities of money or anything that is of high value. Some armored cars of this type are air-conditioned in order to maintain a good environment and atmosphere for those very sensitive goods that are being transported like paintings, artifacts, and etc. A military armored car is a type of armored car having wheels instead of tracks. Military armored cars typically cost less and have greater speed and range compared to tracked military vehicles. These armored cars are mostly used for command, control, communications and reconnaisance and are not designed for heavy fighting. Though some are are used for close combat, and for protecting soft-skinned vehicles during assault. Machine guns, autocannon or a small tank gun can be mounted in these types of armored vehicles. Other uses include moving various long-range rocket, missile, or mortar batteries through delicate areas while giving some protection to the personnel. Armored cars are popular for peacekeeping or internal security duties. Their looks are less threatening than heavy military vehicles such as tanks, and their size and maneuverability is more prefered in tight urban spaces. Civilian armored cars are either factory produced such as the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Guard , the BMW 7 Series High Security and the armored Audi A8 and A6 cars, or custom made versions of series cars. To make it more secure, it is designed by replacing the windows with bulletproof glass and inserting layers of armor under the outer skin of the car. Usually, the external appearance of the car is unchanged, in order to not look conspicuous.
